ABSTRACT:
Phenylisocyanurate is reacted with ethyl-4-chlorobutyrate in an inert solvent to 25.degree.C. to 150.degree.C. to produce 1,3-bis(3-carbethoxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate. The 1,3-bis(3-carbethoxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate is then heated with a mineral acid to produce 1,3-bis(3-carboxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate.
