ABSTRACT:
A device for determining a register error in the case of a multi-color print made with a printing press includes a handheld housing containing a sight formed in a bottom surface of the housing; an optical system disposed at a distance from the sight and having an optical axis directed towards the sight; a mirror disposed between the optical system and the for deflecting light reflected from within the sight; a light-receiving unit disposed so as to be irradiated with the light deflected by the mirror; and an evaluation unit connected to the light-receiving unit for evaluating information from the light received by the light-receiving unit; a register mark to be measured by the device; and a method of operating the device.
