ABSTRACT:
A recording or reproducing apparatus capable of replacing a recording medium is provided with a switch operable in connection with the loading or ejection of the recording medium, a circuit for intermittently detecting the state of the switch, a memory circuit for storing the output of the detecting circuit, a device for initializing the recording medium, and a control circuit for controlling the operation of the initializing device in accordance with the stored content of the memory circuit when electric power is supplied to the recording or reproducing apparatus.
