A superconducting fiber comprising a core filament composed of an oxide such as MgO and a superconducting thin film layer composed of superconducting compound oxide such as YBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7-.delta. and deposited continuously on an outer surface of said core filament.
