ABSTRACT:
B-mode image data obtained by using an electronic linear scanning probe are loaded into a first memory area of a frame memory in a memory format corresponding to a B-mode ultrasound beam. An ultrasound echo signal corresponding to a given location on the B-mode image is sampled so as to derive M-mode image data which are in turn loaded into a second memory area of the frame memory. The B-mode image data and the M-mode data, so stored, are simultaneously read out in a television format from the frame memory, so that the B-mode image and the M-mode image are concurrently displayed on the screen of a television monitor side by side. The M-mode image data may be substituted with Doppler data in order to concurrently display the B-mode image and the Doppler data (frequency spectrum) on the screen of the television monitor.
