ABSTRACT:
A process for flame retarding blends of cellulosic and other fibres e.g. polyester fibres involves impregnation thereof with tetra kis (hydroxyorgano) phosphonium compounds or condensates thereof followed by curing with ammonia, the operation being performed in at least two steps, and with 5-20% of organophosphorus compound (as THP.sup.+ ion) applied in the first step.
