ABSTRACT:
In producing slag ballast from molten slag obtained from metal smelting processes, molten slag is poured into a revolving cylinder which is supported in an inclined position, and the whole external peripheral surface of which serves as the cooling surface, and the molten slag is cooled at a rate exceeding 20.degree. C/min.
As the molten slag is cooled while it moves forward in the revolving cylinder, it is broken up into medium sized lumps to become slag ballast.
