ABSTRACT:
An electrophotographic photosensitive member has a photosensitive layer on an electroconductive support, wherein said photosensitive layer contains a compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## [wherein Ar.sub.1 represents a phenyl group having one or more group selected from alkoxy groups and alkyl groups, Ar.sub.2 represents a phenyl group having one or more group selected from nitro group, cyano group and halogen atoms, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8, R.sub.9, R.sub.10, R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 represnt hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, aralkyl group, alkoxy group, nitro group, cyano group, trifluoromethyl group or substituted amino group, with proviso that R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, R.sub.9 and R.sub.10, R.sub.10 and R.sub.11, R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 may form a fused aromatic ring together with a part of the carbazole ring].
An electrophotographyic apparatus is provided with at least an exposure means of a laser optical system and an electrophotographic photosensitive layer containing a compound represented by the above formula formed on a conductive substrate.
