ABSTRACT:
Novel cyano substituted photographic couplers are represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein m, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and Z are as defined in the specification. These couplers enable effective magenta dye formation upon reaction with an oxidized color photographic silver halide developing agent. The couplers are useful in photographic silver halide materials and processes.
