ABSTRACT:
A method of improving the flame retardant characteristics of substrates by applying thereto an organobromosilicone fluid of the general formula (BrCH.sub.2).sub.3 CCH.sub.2 O(R.sub.2 SiO).sub.x CH.sub.2 C(CH.sub.2 Br).sub.3 wherein each R is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon radicals containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, fluorinated hydrocarbon radicals containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, chlorinated hydrocarbon radicals containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms and cyanohydrocarbon radicals containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and x has a value from 1 to 10, is disclosed.
