ABSTRACT:
In a magnetic head for use in recording and/or reproducing information for a magnetic recording medium, the magnetic head comprising a magnetic core and a non-magnetic slider member, the slider member having a principal surface to face the magnetic recording medium when information recording and/or reproducing are effected for the magnetic recording medium, the non-magnetic slider member is made of a ceramic material essentially consisting of ZrO.sub.2 in order to improve durability and wear-resistance. The ceramic material can contain 27-70% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 on a base of weight ratio while the balance is substantially ZrO.sub.2. The ZrO.sub.2 can be partially replaced by at least one selected from a group of Y.sub.2 O.sub.3, CaO, and MgO, within a range of 2-17% on a base of molecular ratio.
