ABSTRACT:
A refractory composition or mixture utilizing basic aggregates is disclosed which does not discolor when a phenolic binder is used, and provides improved flexural strength. The composition contains specific proportions of phenolic resin and a compound having a pKa of less than 9.5 at 25.degree. C. and basic aggregates.
