ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing 6-isobornyl-3,4-xylenol by condensing camphene and 3,4-dimethylphenol benzylether in an inert anhydrous organic solvent in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst at a temperature of around 0.degree. C., and the 6-isobornyl-3,4-xylenol benzylether thus obtained is debenzylated by hydrogenating in the presence of a solvent and a hydrogenation catalyst.
