A process for the manufacture of 2,4,6-triamino-5-nitro-pyridines of the general formula ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group or an aliphatic group, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 together can form a ring which contains the amino-nitrogen, which process comprises
