ABSTRACT:
Hydrocarbon-soluble compositions useful as the transition metal component in the Ziegler polymerization of .alpha.-olefins are provided by reacting molecular nitrogen or hydrogen with a transition metal compound such as titanium trichloride to form a dinitrogen or dihydrogen complex of the transition metal compound.
