ABSTRACT:
Azo dyestuffs devoid of carboxylic acid and sulphonic acid groups and of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, cyano, nitro, hydroxy or amino group or an organic radical, R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted hydrocarbon or heterocyclic radical or an amino group which may be substituted, Y is a group --COR.sup.2 or ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having two or more carbon atoms, R.sup.3 is an alkyl group of more than three carbon atoms or an aralkyl group and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, K.sup.+ is a cationic group, X.sup.- is an anion and the ring A may carry further substituents or have a benz ring fused thereon. Process for manufacture of the dyestuffs and their use for the coloration of synthetic polymers, in particular polyacrylonitrile and copolymers thereof.
