An information notification device1includes a memory unit3, a request reception unit42, and a communication unit2. The memory unit3stores first equipment information indicating the internal state of a printer engine113. When the image forming apparatus101is in sleep mode, the request reception unit42receives requests for second equipment information indicating the current state of the image forming apparatus101. When the second equipment information is low rate of change with time first attribute information, the communication unit2transmits the first equipment information to the requesting source. When the second equipment information is second attribute information, whose rate of change with time is higher than first attribute information, the power supply114supplies power to the engine113, the communication unit2obtains the second equipment information from the engine113and transmits it to the requesting source.
