ABSTRACT:
A power interrupt switching device for independently controlling normal and remote loads from a single control switch. The device includes an edge detector, an energy storage element, and a latch. When power is applied to the switching device, the edge detector detects the power transition and generates an output pulse for a predetermined time. The storage element charges and generates an output after a second predetermined time greater than the first. Consequently, both outputs are not present simultaneously upon the first application of power. If power is interrupted momentarily and then reapplied, the edge detector again generates an output while the storage element maintains its output during the interruption. With both outputs present, the latch is triggered to deliver power through the switching device to a remote load. The latch remains closed until power is removed. Disclosed are three embodiments of the switching device utilizing, respectively, electromagnetic relays, solid state circuitry, and electrothermal relays.
