A print system that reduces a transfer amount and a storage amount of data and thus can realize efficient extraction of character string information. A tracking information storage server1000stores tracking data format set in correspondence with each print module name of applications201in advance. A job tracking function section400acquires a print module name of an application201, reads a tracking data format that is set in correspondence to the acquired module name, extracts the tracking data from contents of a printout in accordance with the read tracking data format, stores the extracted tracking data in the tracking information storage server1000, and enables a user to search and read the stored tracking data.
