An organic electroluminescent device, which has a pair of electrodes, and at least one organic layer including a luminescent layer between the electrodes, wherein the organic layer contains at least one compound of formula (I):wherein Q11are atoms for forming a nitrogen-containing hetero ring; Z11to Z13each independently represents CR, wherein R represents a substituent, CH or N; n11is 0 or 1; M11is a metal or boron ion that may further have a ligand(s); and a compound of formula (6):wherein R63to R66each is a hydrogen atom or a substituent; X61to X64and Z61to Z66each is CR, wherein R represents a substituent, CH or N.
