ABSTRACT:
The liquid crystal display comprises a first substrate2including a first pixel electrode12aand a second pixel electrode12b, a second substrate4with an opposed electrode22formed on, and a liquid crystal layer6sealed between the first substrate2and the second substrate4. The thickness d1of the liquid crystal layer6on the first pixel electrode12ain the first pixel region8R,8G is larger than the thickness d2of the liquid crystal layer6on the second pixel electrode12bin the second pixel region8B. The first pixel region8R,8G includes a first partial region11a, and a second partial region13awhere the threshold voltage is higher than in the first partial region11a. The second pixel region8B includes a third partial region11b, and a fourth partial region13bwhere the threshold voltage is higher than in the third partial region11b. The threshold voltage in the first partial region11aand the threshold voltage in the third partial region11bare equal to each other, and the threshold voltage in the second partial region13aand the threshold voltage in the fourth partial region13bare equal to each other. Thus, it is possible to prevent large changes in the chromaticity due to gradation and visual angle changes, which lead to the prevention of the occurrence of the coloring. Thus, it is possible to provide a liquid crystal display having good display quality.
