A first and a second terminals100and200are connected to an asynchronous transmission line300.Microphones101and201and loudspeakers102and202,or image input units (i.e., cameras)111and211and image output units (i.e., displays)112and212,are connected to the first and second terminals100and200,respectively. The terminals100and200comprise sampling clock generators103and203,data generators104and204,data reproducers105and205,transmission buffers106and206and n- (or plural) stage reception buffers107and207.Thus, it can prevent data quality deterioration due to an overflow or an underflow when transmitting such data as voice or image data between the first and the second terminals via an asynchronous transmission line.
