ABSTRACT:
A hexynediene derivative expressed by the following general formula I and liquid crystal compositions containing the derivative are disclosed: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent an alkyl group or alkoxy group each having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, ring A and ring B independently represent 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene.
