ABSTRACT:
A device for detecting disconnection for use in a stepping motor driver is provided having a driver circuit3which comprises a pair of windings21, 22wound in a bifilar turn arrangement; a pair of MOSFETs1, 2connected to the other end of each winding21, 22; a common current detecting resistor4connected between MOSFETs1, 2and ground; a first reference voltage generator34for producing a first reference voltage Vt1; a second reference voltage generator40for producing a second reference voltage Vt2lower than first reference voltage Vt1; a decision circuit8, 8bfor comparing the detection voltage on current detecting resistor4with second reference voltage Vt2to produce an alarm signal when detection voltage is higher than second reference voltage Vt2; and a disconnection detector11for receiving an alarm signal from decision circuit8, 8bafter comparator8produces a chopper signal17to produce a disconnection signal upon occurrence of line-disconnection in winding21or22.
