A polymer-carrying optically active binaphthyl type oxazoline compound having axial asymmetry, represented by the following general formula (1)(wherein R1and R2may be the same or different from each other and each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or the like; R3is a hydrogen atom or —R5—X—R6; R4is a hydrogen atom or the like; R5is a straight- or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon chain which may have a directly or indirectly bonded substituent; X is CH2, CO2, O, CONR7or NR7; R6is a directly or indirectly bonded polymer; and R7is a hydrogen atom or the like), and to a transition metal complex which uses the compound as the ligand.
