ABSTRACT:
A document composition supporting method and system for the support of document editing or translation use a data-based electronic terminology dictionary which is composed such that terms in standard expression and terms in alternative spelling/expression corresponding thereto are registered in association with each other. The terminology dictionary is stored in a CD-ROM, floppy disk or the like and the contents of the terminology dictionary are loaded into a hard disk of a computer system such as personal computer. The terminology dictionary is used to search an inputted document for terms in the document matching with terms in standard expression and terms in alternative spelling/expression registered in the terminology dictionary, and the result of search is displayed on a display unit. For terminological standardization of the document, the terms in the document matching with the terms in alternative spelling/expression inputted in the terminology dictionary are replaced by the corresponding terms in standard expression. For translation of the document with terminological standardization thereof, terms of a source language in standard expression and in alternative spelling/expression are applied with target equivalent of a target language corresponding thereto. The process and result of such terminological standardization or translation can be recorded.
