A side-lighting type surface light source device100includes a light source40, a reflector member50, a light guide plate member30, and a fixing member10. The reflector member50reflects a light ray from the light source, and includes opposed first end portion520cand second end portion520a, wherein the first end portion is arranged to project out of the second end portion. The fixing member10includes a fixing body12having a support surface (a back portion12a) and a reflector holder14for holding the reflector member. The reflector member supports the reflective sheet20and the light guide plate member30with the first end portion thereof.
