ABSTRACT:
A prism11is formed which has a first face11aopposing an end face of an optical fiber21and receiving a light-to-be-received from the optical fiber, second and third faces11band11cadjoining opposite ends of the first face11aat right angles and opposing each other, a fourth face11dfor reflecting the light-to-be-received from the face11atoward the face11b, and a fifth face11ereflecting a light-to-be-transmitted as projected from a light source through the face11ctoward the face11a. First and second light-to-be-received converging lenses12and13are disposed on the faces11aand11bof the prism11and first and second light-to-be-transmitted converging lenses14and15are disposed on the faces11aand11c. The tilt angles β1and β2of the faces11dand11ewith respect to the optical fiber axis21aare less than 45°. With this configuration, if the light-to-be-received enters the light-receiving element22and the light-emitting element23and is reflected by these elements, such reflected light is prevented from returning back into the optical fiber whereby occurrence of far-end crosstalk can be suppressed.
