A hydraulic steering apparatus1has a substantially bow-shaped frame2, which includes a pair of end portions2abent forward. A piston rod3is supported by and between the end portions2a. A hydraulic cylinder5is supported by the piston rod3slidably along it. The frame2also includes a middle portion2A, which has bolt holes2B cut through it. Bolts11extend through the bolt holes2B and engage with the front end of the swivel bracket41of an outboard engine40to fix the frame2to the bracket. The cylinder5is linked to the front end of the steering lever46of the engine40by a steering link7.
