ABSTRACT:
Polyacrylic acid polymers are modified with hydroxylamine to convert a portion of the acrylic acid groups in the polymer to hydroxamic acid groups. The process requires utiization of a pH between 1-6 and a temperature ranging between 70.degree.-150.degree. C.
