The cover includes a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer as a principal component. The Shore D hardness of the cover is 30 or greater and 55 or less. The surface area occupation ratio Y of the dimples is equal to or greater than 75%. A ratio R1of the diameter dmaxof the maximum dimple to the diameter D of the golf ball is 11.0% or greater and 18.0% or less. A ratio R2of the number of dimples having the diameter d accounting for 11.0% or greater and 18.0% or less of the diameter D of the golf ball to the total number N of the dimples is equal to or greater than 20%.
