ABSTRACT:
A tensioner, in which an outer body and an inner body, which can deal with a tensioner mounting form required by various engines and a tension-imparting function, can be assembled. The inner body and a movement backward preventing mechanism, which form an inner body unit, can be unitized in a shape by which press-fitting and assembling is easy, and its efficient assembling production can be performed. A body22of a tensioner21is composed of outer and inner bodies23and24of different members. The outer body23is provided with a tensioner mounting means and an inner body fitting hole23a. The inner body24is provided with a plunger accommodating hole24ainto which a plunger26biased by a compression spring27was slidably fitted, and a movement backward preventing mechanism32for preventing the backward movement of the plunger26is incorporated into the inner body24. The movement backward preventing mechanism32comprises a rack26bformed on a part of the outer circumference of the plunger26, a pawl body32bpivotably supported with a pivot shaft32ain a cutaway groove formed on a front end of the inner body24, and a spring31c, which biases a pawl of the pawl body32bso that the pawl engages the rack26b. An inner body side unit33composed of at least the inner body24, the movement backward preventing mechanism32, the compression spring27and the plunger26, is adapted to be press-fitted and fixed into the inner body fitting hole23aof the outer body23.
