An upper half11of a tape cassette BB is made by at least a material having high transparency. Right and left holes18aand18bfor light path are formed on side surfaces of the upper half11. Further, roughened surfaces10aand10bin a prismatic shape are formed on outer right and left sides11A1and11B1or inner right and left sides11A2and11B2of the upper half11in neighboring areas of or adjacent to the right and left holes18aand18b.
