A medical laser device is disclosed comprising an optical fiber12having markings45, 46which enable the optical fiber12to be accurately positioned relative to an introducer sheath40.The introducer sheath40may also have graduated markings to enable the sheath40to be withdrawn at a controlled rate. A pulsed or continuous laser source may be provided.
