A wave inhibiting device (10) for a pool lane divider, the device having an inner region, a plurality of fins (16, 17) extending from the inner region and for blocking at least a portion of any wave incident on a major surface thereof, and an outer region having at least one peripheral wall (19) which extends at least part way between adjacent fins and has at least one wall portion with an inner face which is adapted to block at least a portion of any wave incident on an inner surface thereof.
