ABSTRACT:
A projectile mainly for drug delivery comprises a tubular body casing1which defines a cavity2for containment of a tranquilizing drug. The casing has an end plug3which coaxially supports a hollow needle4projecting forward through an ogival nose cap5. The delivery end6of the needle4projects a short way beyond the cap5. Located around the needle4towards the tip of the nose cap5is a gas producing detonator7fired by an impact fuse8. Attached to the detonator7and the needle4is the neck g of an inflatable bag10of which an opposed end11is attached to the plug3. The rear end of the cavity2has a piston12the rear end of which communicates through concentric passageways13and ducts14with the interior of the bag10. The nose cap5is of a readily breakable plastics material or designed to assist retardation.
