ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal device1includes a liquid crystal23arranged between a first substrate2and a second substrate3.The liquid crystal device has a reflecting conductive film18formed on the first substrate2,a light transmitting metal oxide film19laminated on the reflective conductive film18so that the edges34thereof are in contact with an underlying film35or the first substrate2,and an illumination device25for irradiating the liquid crystal23with light from outside the first substrate2.Since the edges are present around the reflective conductive film18,the area of a light reflecting region contributing to reflection is not changed even when the position of the reflective conductive film18is deviated in the transverse direction.
