ABSTRACT:
An image forming apparatus contains an accommodator for accommodating a recording material together with an image forming device for forming an image on that recording material supplied from the accommodator. A fixing apparatus receives the imaged recording material and includes a heat generating resistor layer, a protection layer covering the heat generating resistor layer and a sheet movable with the recording material in sliding contact with the protection layer, wherein the image is heated by heater through the sheet. A position detector detects the position of the recording material and the power supply to the heat generating resistor layer is started in accordance with the output of the position detector.
