ABSTRACT:
An electrochromic composition is composed of a solvent, an electrochromic compound having a high solubility to the solvent, and a compound selected from a group of ammonia, organic amine and alkali. The solubility of the electrochromic compound to the solvent is not less than 10.sup.-2 mol/100 g-solvent in a reduced state and not less than 10.sup.-1 mol/100 g-solvent in an oxidized state. A masking agent may be added to the EC compound. The EC composition is sealed in an EC display cell.
