ABSTRACT:
A parts washer is provided having a cabinet defining an internal space within which parts can be washed and a fluid holding space with the internal and fluid holding spaces being in fluid communication with each other. There is an opening in the cabinet communicating from the internal space to externally of the cabinet. The internal space contains a first fluid and there is a second fluid in the fluid holding space with the parts washer in a non-operating state. Structure for heating the second fluid in the holding space is provided so that the temperature of the second fluid is at least temporarily higher than the temperature of the first fluid in the internal space as the heating structure is operated at startup. A second structure is provided for directing heated fluid from the fluid holding space against parts in the internal space. A third structure is provided separate from the heating mechanism and the fluid directing mechanism for increasing pressure and/or temperature of the first fluid in the internal space before operation of the heated fluid directing structure at startup to thereby avoid the burst of second fluid into the internal space by the directing structure as might cause at least one pressure wave in one of the first fluid and the second fluid to form in the cabinet internal space.
