ABSTRACT:
There is provided a honeycomb structure1having partition walls2to form cells3extending in the axial direction and having a polygonal section, and an outer wall4surrounding the plurality of partition walls2. The partition walls2have an average thickness (Tp) of 0.038 to 0.17 mm. The outer wall4has an average thickness (Ts) satisfying a relation of Tp<Ts≦0.7 mm. The outer wall4has a concave and convex structure at its outer surface40. The convex top7is located at the outer surface41of an abutting portion5or the outer surface42of abutting portion vicinity9. The honeycomb structure sufficiently withstands the pressure applied during canning and also has excellent thermal shock resistance.
