ABSTRACT:
In the liquid crystal display device and the method of manufacturing the same, the pixel electrodes32and the projection pattern35are formed on the TFT substrate30side, and surfaces of the pixel electrodes32and the projection pattern35are covered with the vertical alignment film36. Also, the opposing electrode44and the projection pattern45are formed on the CF substrate40side, and surfaces of the opposing electrode44and the projection pattern45are covered with the vertical alignment film46. Then, the TFT substrate30and the CF substrate40are arranged such that top end portions of the projection pattern45on the CF substrate40are brought into contact with the TFT substrate30. Then, the liquid crystal49having the negative dielectric anisotropy is sealed between them. Accordingly, the step of scattering the spacers can be omitted, change in the cell thickness can be prevented, and the good display quality can be achieved.
