ABSTRACT:
An object of the present invention is to obtain a vibration damper capable of instantly changing or rapidly increasing the spring constant of the vibration damper, with improving sealing properties. An intermediate cylinder16is fittingly engaged with the inner peripheral surface of an outer cylindrical metal member12. The intermediate cylinder16and a mounting metal member22are elastically connected by a rubber elastic body24. A circular tube portion36A of a yoke forming member36is provided at a position on the inner peripheral side of the intermediate cylinder16. A coil46is to disposed between the intermediate cylinder16and the yoke forming member36. A pressure receiving liquid chamber40in which a portion of an inner wall thereof is formed of the rubber elastic body24communicates via an orifice44with a secondary liquid chamber42which is elastically deformable due to presence of a diaphragm38, such that a magnetism responsive fluid can flow in either direction between the pressure receiving liquid chamber and the second liquid chamber. A yoke portion36C is provided on the inner peripheral side of the circular tube portion36A such that the yoke portion36C is situated along magnetic path which is generated upon electrical activation of the coil46.
