ABSTRACT:
A surgical device10with an ergonomic handle12and, an elongated tubular portion18extending from the ergonomic handle12to a functional end22. The elongated tubular portion18has a longitudinal axis19, and a finger actuator16is positioned substantially in line with this axis. Furthermore, the surgical device10may also include a rod20functionally disposed within the tubular portion18along the longitudinal axis19. The rod20may be coupled proximally to the finger actuator16and distally to the functional end22, such that bidirectional pressure applied by the user's finger to the finger actuator16along the longitudinal axis19manipulates the functional end22in a bidirectional manner in response to or in a common direction to the bidirectional pressure. The surgical device10may further comprise a ratcheting mechanism24to lock the finger actuator16in a fixed position, thus locking the functional end22in a fixed position. Additionally, the functional end22may be free to rotate around the longitudinal axis19, and the elongated tubular portion18may be detachable from the ergonomic handle12.
