Description

ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal composition is disclosed which comprises three components. The first component comprises at least one of the compounds of the following formulas (1-1) and (1-2). The second component comprises at least one of the compounds of the following formula (2). The third component comprises at least one of the compounds of the following formulas (3-1) to (3-4). ##STR1## Each symbol in formulas (1-1) to (3-4) is defined in the specification. The liquid crystal composition has low threshold voltage and high stability to hear and ultraviolet rays while satisfying general characteristics required for the STN display mode.
