ABSTRACT:
A mailing machine for mounting of a suitable postage meter thereon includes means for initiating a postage meter print cycle. The postage meter includes a shutter means which will prevent full execution of the postage meter print cycle if not properly enabled. The mailing machine includes a shutter lever means in driving communication with the shutter means for controllably causing the shutter means to experience reciprocal motion. The mailing machine further includes control means for simultaneously causing the postage meter to begin a print cycle and cause the shutter lever means to being displacement of the shutter means. However, if the shutter means is not properly enabled, the control means will cause the shutter lever means to return to a home position for a retry.
