ABSTRACT:
An apparatus for charging insulating toner particles which comprises a charging roll, a transporting roll or donor belt, and a squirrel cage toner delivery device. A charging nip is situated between the charging roll and the transporting roll or donor belt, and the transporting roll or donor belt and the charging roll are charged to a predetermined potential. The rotating biased wire device in the form of a squirrel cage delivers toner particles from the toner housing to the charging nip. Subsequent to charging, the toner particles are delivered by the transporting roll or donor belt to the photoreceptor.
