ABSTRACT:
An improved process for the preparation of alkenyl succinic anhydride from maleic anhydride and a mixture of straight chain alpha olefins in the C.sub.13 to C.sub.22 range which comprises separating the alpha olefins into a lower boiling fraction and a higher boiling fraction, isomerizing the higher boiling fraction, recombining the two fractions and reacting them with maleic anhydride.
