ABSTRACT:
3-Aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine is prepared by reacting 3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone with 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine and subsequently or simultaneously adding ammonia under a hydrogen pressure of from 50 to 300 bar in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at from 20.degree. to 150.degree. C., by a process in which the reaction is carried out without removing the water of reaction.
