ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal optical element comprising a pair of substrates with electrodes and a liquid crystal/polymer composite material interposed between the pair of substrates wherein polymer which constitutes a polymer phase has a maximum value of 20.degree. C. or less in the temperature dependence of the loss dielectric constant (a frequency for measurement=100 Hz).
